Abstract

The 76th Regular Legislative Session ended on May 31, 1999. As in prior Sessions, this past Session saw a record number of bills and resolutions filed (5908) and passed (1638). Those bills that the Governor does not veto within 20 days following their final passage will become law. To date, the Governor has only vetoed two bills.

The effective date for most bills will be September 1, 1999.

This past Session saw a number of bills and resolutions filed which, if enacted, would have had a significant impact on the construction industry. Several of those measures passed both the House and Senate and await the Governor's final action. The following is a brief discussion of some of the more significant construction related issues with which the Legislature dealt:
